funny this ... my boys have remarked just recently that it is true ... the kids at their new huge high school certainly do NOT seem to know how to socialize.

HI Joy. Interesting article, as that's something that I've wondered from time to time. My sister (Tina, in Iowa) is homeschooling her kids now, and this has crossed my mind. I wouldn't call it a huge 'concern' that I felt, because I also asked myself the same question, that are public/catholic/private system kids receiving the right kind of socialization? In my opinion, most of the time they are not. I realize that this is dangerously close to stereotyping these kids, but when I see the current state of an increasing number of incidences of violence, vandalism and all forms of abuse around these kids, it really makes me wonder how a society that rejects God expects to make it. Then I look at perhaps the most famous home-schoolers I've heard of, the Duggars. Whether society agrees with their lifestyle or not (I have to admit that I struggle with the 'weird' aspect of their gigantic squeaky clean family) I notice that that large Baptist family has raised 19 kids successfully, debt free, and with high morals and family values. I say Baptist because at first I thought that they might be Mormon or Catholic, denominations that I believe tend to have larger families. Those kids never argue with their parents, never back-talk, curse, or slack off. They politely help out around the house and the ones old enough have started to marry and begin their own families with the same upbringing.
My views on the subject have changed (for the better) over the years. I love your summary and conclusion.
